The sixth edition of the Action Art Congress Acción Spring(t), held at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid, had a three-day program, with heterogeneous proposals from many authors and styles, from technological, durational, experimental, verbal, interactive actions and also hybridized with music or dance. It also had debate tables and presentations, with performance and action art as central themes. The coordinators María Fernández Vázquez and Elisa Miravalles made the congress a meeting and connection place between artists and theorists that generated a fantastic exchange of experiences, collaborations and enrichment both on a human and artistic level for all of us who attended.
I presented a reinterpretation of the artistic action “I pampered myself” carried out in the performance “Osmosis of the self”.
I pampered myself
"I pampered myself" is a reflection on the relationship between the satisfaction of the desire to consume and self-exploitation, concepts that profoundly order the interpretation of the contemporary world and current consumer societies.
The action connects these concepts in a symbolic and absurdly ironic way: the repetition of the identity symbol par excellence (the proper name), the consumption of fast food and the self-consumption of one's own blood.
